Mooyah's Burger
I've been looking for some more burger joints around my city and particularly around my work and this had come to my attention. It was off on Kingston Pike, basically tucked away in a place I often went to for my haircut. Building's around it was colorful, the parking lot was weirdly constructed, but the place was packed.
My Three Rules
Packed parking lots are always a good sign.
If the place looks messy but not dirty, that means a chef runs the place and not a business.
If there's too many things on the menu, I'm going to get older foods.
How'd it hold up?
The parking lot was packed but the building sure wasn't.
When I entered the joint, I could see a few people around, old guy with three double stacked burgers looking like he's having the time of his life, a college age couple enjoying some milk shakes, and a mother and daughter having a conversation with the literal only employee that I got to see in that place.
The place was clean, yes, but it had that plastic feeling that a corporation was running it and not a passionate chef in the back. The place was dark, like only a couple lights were on and the natural light from the large windows weren't enough.
While the literal only employee there was talking to the mother and her child, I took a look at the menu. But the menu was tight. Different kinds of burgers, fries or made chips, and a couple kinds of milk shakes. No fifteen thousand options, just some solid stuff. Took awhile for my order to get taken, again, single employee doing the job of a team, but eventually I got it.
Ordered a cheese burger, fries, a fountain soda, and an oreo shake running me up to 21 bucks with a 10% tip.
I arrived at about 2 PM. Took about 15 minutes for my food order to get taken and 15 more to get it out to me, so I only got my food at 2:30 PM. I was only supposed to take 30 minutes for my lunch break but eh. What can you do?
The burger was good and solid. Not something I think I'd explicitly go out for but a solid option if you're in the area. The older gentlemen devouring three doubles seemed to be having the best burger he's ever had, so maybe if I come back I'll try that double diablo burger. Fries were crispy and not burnt. I can imagine if I had their loaded version it would be good, but they were still great. Finally the milk shake took an additional 10 minutes to make. I didn't mind, but I did have to point out to the employee there that I didn't get it. Luckily another employee showed up to help and it only took maybe 5 more minutes to get it.
Overall, this was a solid lunch. It took longer than it realistically should have, but I did enjoy myself.
